Chapter 19 - The Lender Calls
The private lender contacted Margaret directly.
A man named Curtis Lane claimed he had been deceived.
Daniel told him the lake property transfer was guaranteed.
Curtis offered to cancel part of Daniel’s debt if Margaret voluntarily pledged the shoreline leases.
Margaret declined.
Then Curtis threatened legal action.
Rebecca joined the call.
“Against whom?”
Silence followed.
The loan was issued to Daniel’s company.
Margaret signed nothing.
The trust guaranteed nothing.
Curtis had relied on promises from people who held no ownership.
He had also accepted confidential property records he knew may have been improperly obtained.
Rebecca suggested he speak with his own attorney.
Curtis never called Margaret again.
