Chapter 10 - The Changed Will

Daniel demanded to see Edward’s will.
Rebecca carried a certified copy.
She did not hand it over.
“The will is not the controlling document.”
“What does that mean?”
“The property was transferred into trust before Edward died.”
Daniel turned toward Margaret.
“You let me believe it would come to me.”
“I allowed you to reveal what you believed you deserved.”
Denise stepped forward.
“Edward would never cut Daniel out.”
“He did not cut Daniel out of everything,” Rebecca said. “He protected this property.”
“From whom?”
Rebecca looked directly at Daniel.
“Anyone who tried to use it without authorization.”
The trust contained an exploitation clause.
Any beneficiary who attempted fraud, coercion, or unauthorized borrowing against the property could be permanently excluded.
Daniel’s rejected loan application may already have triggered it.
