Mason Cross agreed to cooperate in exchange for a reduced sentence.
His testimony revealed that Grant had borrowed twelve million dollars from illegal lenders.
At first, Grant used company funds to make payments.
Then the losses grew.
He forged Richard’s approval, sold company equipment through shell vendors, and transferred employee pension money into offshore accounts.
When auditors began asking questions, Grant created a larger crisis.
He deliberately defaulted on company loans, knowing Richard would seek emergency financing.
That was when Alden Whitmore appeared.
Grant believed the old billionaire could solve the debt problem while giving him time to hide the theft.
Instead, Adrian had purchased the debt specifically to expose the family.
Richard stared at his son.
“You stole the pension fund?”
Grant gave a cold laugh.
“You stole an entire company from Andrew Whitmore.”
“I built the Carter name.”
“You built it on fraud, then expected me to worship you.”
Richard lunged at him.
Agents separated them.
For years, father and son had protected each other because their crimes were connected.
Now each tried to save himself by blaming the other.
Victor demanded a lawyer.
Grant accused Victor of arranging everything.
Richard claimed Margaret had controlled the accounts.
But the evidence was too detailed.
Every transfer had a timestamp.
Every false contract had a signature.
Every threat had been recorded.
Evelyn watched the men who had controlled her entire life fall apart without anyone striking them.
Their own words were enough.
The prosecutor turned to Adrian.
“Mr. Whitmore, the false identity creates legal complications.”
“I understand.”
“You committed fraud when you signed the marriage license as Alden Whitmore.”
Adrian nodded.
Evelyn stepped forward.
“He revealed his identity before the marriage was consummated, and the document was part of an active evidence operation.”
The prosecutor looked at her.
“That does not automatically protect him.”
Adrian faced Evelyn.
“Don’t defend me.”
“I’m not defending your deception,” she said. “I’m telling the whole truth.”
The distinction mattered.
Adrian had pursued justice through dangerous methods.
