Chapter 4 - The Doctor Daniel Chose

Daniel began accompanying Emily to every medical appointment.
He told friends she was struggling with anxiety after her father’s stroke.
At home, he corrected her memories.
“You already told me that.”
“We discussed this yesterday.”
“You’ve been forgetting a lot lately.”
Emily started writing things down.
Daniel found the notebook and called it unhealthy.
“You’re feeding your paranoia.”
Then he recommended a psychiatrist named Dr. Martin Hale.
Emily attended one appointment.
The doctor asked fewer questions about her emotions than about her access to company accounts.
“Do you ever feel that people are conspiring against you?” he asked.
“My husband forged my signature.”
“Do you have objective proof?”
“I compared the documents.”
“That is not what I asked.”
After forty minutes, Dr. Hale suggested medication.
Emily refused.
Two days later, Daniel told Samuel that Emily was suffering from severe paranoia.
Her father called her from the rehabilitation center.
“Are you safe?” he asked.
The question surprised her.
“Why wouldn’t I be?”
Samuel was quiet.
Then he said, “Do not sign anything Daniel gives you.”
Before Emily could ask why, a nurse ended the call.
Daniel claimed Samuel had become confused.
Lorraine moved into the house the following week.
She said Daniel needed help while caring for Emily.
From the first night, Lorraine began treating the home as if it belonged to her son.
She rearranged the kitchen.
Opened Emily’s mail.
Removed Samuel’s photographs from the hallway.
When Emily objected, Lorraine smiled.
“This is Daniel’s house too.”
The house had actually been purchased through Emily’s family trust before the marriage.
Daniel knew that.
Still, he began introducing it as his property.
A month later, Emily received an email confirming that she had transferred the house into a marital holding company.
She had signed no such document.
Her name appeared at the bottom anyway.
This time, she did not confront Daniel.
She forwarded the file to a private attorney recommended by Samuel.
The attorney’s name was Rachel Cole.
Rachel called within ten minutes.
“Do not let your husband know you contacted me.”
“Why?”

“Because this is not one forged signature. I’ve already found seven.”
👉 Rachel’s investigation revealed that Daniel was not merely stealing money—he was building a legal case to declare Emily mentally incompetent.
