Helen remembered a locked drawer in Charles’s home office.
He told her it contained client contracts.
Investigators opened it.
Inside were photographs of Helen taken without her knowledge.
Notes about her medication.
Copies of letters she wrote but never mailed.
And one signed statement.
Helen Bennett confirms Amanda suffered from depression and frequently threatened self-harm.
Helen stared at the signature.
“It looks like mine.”
“Did you sign it?” Keene asked.
“No.”
A handwriting analyst later confirmed the signature had been traced.
Charles forged his wife’s testimony to support the accidental-death ruling.
Helen’s silence had helped him.
But he never trusted silence alone.
He manufactured agreement.
There were similar statements attributed to Ella.
One claimed she witnessed Amanda drinking heavily before leaving the fundraiser.
Ella had been twelve and home with a babysitter.
Charles created a family narrative in writing, then stored the forgeries in case anyone reopened the investigation.
Helen finally understood the scale.
He had not merely frightened them.
He prepared to use their identities against them.
She agreed to testify.
Charles’s attorney called her confused.
