Katherine and Grace opened the Beatrice House Legal Center inside a restored library near Hudson State.
The center provided confidential attorneys, emergency relocation, and financial-forensics support for people escaping abuse.
One floor helped witnesses preserve evidence before powerful families could destroy it.
Another provided counseling for relatives consumed by unresolved grief.
Grace insisted on that program.
“Caleb needed help long before he decided revenge was justice,” she said. “Other families should recognize that danger sooner.”
The center never used Beatrice’s photograph without context.
The lobby showed her laughing in a kitchen with Katherine.
Running beside Caleb when he was a child.
Standing between Grace and Robert at a family picnic.
She was remembered as a complete person.
Not only a victim.
Frank’s construction company restored the building at cost.
Robert supervised scholarship partnerships.
Katherine continued working as an architect while serving as the trust’s chairwoman.
She attended therapy.
She learned to sleep without checking whether a door was locked from the outside.
The first person to receive help from the center was a college student named Marisol.
Her boyfriend had placed tracking software on her phone and convinced her that leaving would destroy his family.
Marisol stared at the white ribbon Katherine gave her.
“How did you know you were allowed to walk away?”
Katherine answered honestly.

“What changed?”

Grace stood across the lobby and heard her.

Only a short approved sentence appeared in the public exhibit:

Katherine read it whenever guilt returned.
