Chapter 16 - THE MEN WHO CALLED CONTROL PROTECTION

Owen Harrow’s trial began first.

Prosecutors charged him with Beatrice’s murder, financial fraud, witness intimidation, obstruction, and conspiracy.

Martin Voss accepted a plea agreement.

He admitted replacing the railing, suppressing the emergency call, and fabricating the argument between Katherine and Beatrice.

He also admitted giving Owen sealed witness information.

In exchange for a reduced sentence, he testified against him.

Katherine took the stand.

Owen watched her with the same calm expression he wore in the garage.

His attorney asked why she had remained silent for seven years.

“I did not remain silent,” Katherine answered. “I spoke to investigators. Powerful people made sure the public heard a different story.”

The 911 call played.

The bracelet evidence was presented.

Beatrice’s secret video exposed the conspiracy.

The jury convicted Owen on every major charge.

He received a sentence that ensured he would spend decades in prison.

Voss lost his pension and badge and received prison time for corruption and obstruction.

Caleb’s case was separate.

He was charged with unlawful restraint, coercion, stalking, illegal surveillance, attempted trust fraud, and witness interference.

His attorney argued that Owen manipulated a grieving man.

The prosecutor agreed Caleb had been manipulated.

Then she displayed his unopened full recording, the transfer documents, and the hidden camera.

“Manipulation explains how he found Katherine,” she said. “It does not excuse what he chose after he found evidence that she was innocent.”

Caleb pleaded guilty.

At sentencing, Robert addressed his son.

“I raised you to believe protecting family meant standing between danger and the vulnerable.”

Caleb lowered his head.

“You placed yourself between Katherine and the only door.”

Grace did not ask the judge for mercy.

She asked for accountability and mandatory trauma treatment.

Caleb received a multiyear prison sentence followed by supervised release and a permanent protective order.

He was prohibited from contacting Katherine unless she initiated it.

Their marriage was annulled on grounds of fraud and coercion.

The law recognized what Katherine already knew.
