The photograph’s embedded data showed it had been taken at 7:58 p.m.
Maya’s emergency call occurred at 8:17.
Celeste claimed she had spent the entire evening at a downtown restaurant.
The restaurant receipt showed dinner for one at 9:04.
It proved nothing about the earlier hour.
Traffic cameras recorded Celeste’s car leaving the road near the lake house at 8:26.
She had been there.
When confronted, Celeste changed her story.
She said she stopped by to deliver company documents.
She claimed she left Maya alive and calm.
Daniel continued insisting Celeste had never entered the house.
Their lies no longer matched.
Investigators searched the neighborhood for private cameras.
A house across the lake used a security system that automatically captured vehicles passing the main road.
The system recorded Celeste arriving at 7:31.
Daniel arrived six minutes later.
No one left until after the emergency vehicles appeared.
Daniel had not been alone with Maya.
The lake house’s exterior camera should have recorded the same arrivals.
Its files contained an eleven-minute gap.
The missing section began at 8:09.
It ended at 8:20.
Maya’s fall occurred inside that window.
The system logs showed the deletion came from Daniel’s phone.
He claimed he accidentally removed the footage while trying to call for help.
A digital examiner disproved that.
Deleting the file required entering a password, opening the archive menu, selecting the time period, and confirming twice.
Daniel erased the evidence deliberately.
But the cloud system had uploaded one partial frame before the deletion.
The image showed Maya standing near the top of the staircase.
Daniel was directly in front of her.
Celeste stood behind him.
Maya held the black ledger against her chest.
The frame did not show the fall.
It did show all three people together.
