The family attorney had represented the Bennetts for twenty-seven years.
He handled their father’s estate.
He prepared Maya’s marriage documents.
He advised Daniel after the company founder died.
No one questioned his loyalty.
That was why his betrayal worked.
Financial records showed he created three shell companies on Celeste’s behalf.
He routed stolen rental income through attorney trust accounts.
He forged Maya’s approval on the life insurance change.
In return, he received nearly $400,000.
When Maya confronted him, he alerted Daniel immediately.
His nine calls on the day of her death were not routine.
He was warning Daniel that Maya knew everything.
The attorney also drafted the false competency petition.
If Maya survived the confrontation, Daniel planned to claim she had become mentally unstable.
The attorney would provide legal support.

Investigators obtained a warrant to search his office.
