Chapter 1 - The Woman He Thought Was Claire

Daniel Whitmore raised his hand with the confidence of a man who believed he owned everything in the room.
The mansion.
The money.
The woman standing in front of him.
“Claire” trembled barefoot on the marble floor, dressed in pale pink pajamas. Dark bruises marked her cheek. Her eyes were red, and her hands shook at her sides.
Behind the leather sofa, Vanessa leaned against the cushions in a red-and-black boxing outfit, smiling like she had paid to watch a show.
Daniel stepped closer.
“No one will believe you,” he said.
His open hand swung toward her face.
But it never landed.
The frightened woman moved with shocking speed.
Her forearm rose.
Her hand closed around his wrist.
Daniel froze.
The fear vanished from her eyes.
In its place was something colder.
Something trained.
Something he had never seen in his wife.
Vanessa slowly stood.
Daniel tried to pull away, but the woman twisted his arm just enough to force him backward.
“You picked the wrong woman,” she said.
Her voice sounded like Claire’s.
But the tone was wrong.
Stronger.
Sharper.
Daniel stared into her face.
The same blue eyes.
The same dark hair.
The same small scar near the eyebrow.
Yet something inside him recoiled.
“Who are you?”
The woman released him and stepped back.
Then she pulled down the collar of her pajama top.
A tiny body camera blinked against her chest.
Across the room, a red light flashed inside a lamp.
Under the sofa cushion, a phone screen glowed with a secure livestream.
Daniel’s face drained of color.
The woman slowly removed the wedding ring from her finger.
“My sister is safe,” she said.
At that exact moment, the front door exploded inward.
Police officers rushed into the mansion.
Daniel stumbled backward.
Vanessa screamed.
Detective Maya Collins entered behind the tactical team, holding a signed emergency warrant.
Daniel looked from the officers to the woman wearing his wife’s face.
And finally understood.
She was not Claire.
She was Claire’s twin sister.

And everything he had just done had been recorded.
👉 But Daniel’s arrest was only the first crack in a much larger secret hidden inside the Whitmore mansion.
