Chapter 6 - Vanessa’s WarningVanessa waited until Daniel stepped into his study.
Then she moved close to Claire.
“You should enjoy this house while you still can,” she said.
Claire kept her expression calm.
“What does that mean?”
Vanessa glanced toward the study door.
“Daniel is tired of carrying you.”
Claire looked at the red coat, the diamond bracelet, and the confidence of a woman who believed the outcome had already been decided.
“You’re sleeping with my husband.”
Vanessa smiled.
“He stopped being yours a long time ago.”
Claire wanted to slap her.
Instead, she asked, “Does Daniel know you’re threatening me in his home?”
“Our home soon.”
Daniel returned before Claire could answer.
Vanessa immediately changed her expression.
She thanked him sweetly and left.
Claire confronted Daniel that night.
He denied everything.
Then he became angry.
“You’re hormonal.”
“I saw the transfers.”
His face went still.
“What transfers?”
Claire realized she had revealed too much.
Daniel walked toward her slowly.
“Have you been accessing company accounts without permission?”
“I helped build those records.”
“That doesn’t make them yours.”
Claire stepped back.
Daniel did not touch her.
He did something more calculated.
He smiled.
“If you accuse me publicly, people will see an unstable pregnant wife trying to destroy her husband.”
The following morning, Claire discovered her access to every company account had been revoked.
By noon, Daniel had contacted a divorce attorney.
By evening, he told Claire she would receive papers within the week.
He believed she had found only the affair.
