Adrian was convicted of wire fraud, identity theft, attempted coercion, conspiracy, fraudulent property transfer and misuse of corporate funds.
The court also considered his hospital threats during sentencing.
Celeste pleaded guilty to conspiracy, receiving stolen corporate assets and assisting fraudulent transfers.
Her cooperation reduced her sentence.
It did not erase it.
The Birkin bag, luxury apartment, jewelry and other purchases funded by Mercer Development were seized.
Adrian received a substantial prison sentence.
He was permanently barred from serving as a corporate officer or fiduciary.
His shares in Mercer Development were placed into a restitution structure to repay contractors, employees and investors.
At sentencing, Adrian asked to address Evelyn.
“I was afraid of losing everything,” he said.
Evelyn sat beside Helena and Robert.
“You had a wife and three children,” she answered. “You decided they were not everything.”
Adrian looked down.
“I loved the babies.”
“You calculated their trust before learning which one needed breathing support.”
He had no response.
The judge finalized a long-term custody order.
Evelyn retained sole legal and physical custody.
Any future contact between Adrian and the children would require professional supervision, treatment and separate court approval after his release.
Robert and Helena did not receive automatic control either.
At Evelyn’s request, the triplets’ trust remained independently managed.
“No parent or grandparent should control their money alone,” she said.
Robert accepted the condition.
He understood the trust was supposed to protect the children, not reward family authority.
Mercer Development survived through restructuring.
No Bennett family member took the chief executive role.
Independent leaders completed viable projects and sold Adrian’s unnecessary luxury assets.
Employees received a profit-sharing plan.
The Beverly Hills house remained in Evelyn’s trust.
But she did not return immediately.
She moved with the triplets into her parents’ guesthouse while recovering.
At first, every offer of help made her tense.
Helena began asking before entering the nursery.
Robert never scheduled security without Evelyn’s approval.
They were learning that reconciliation could not mean returning to the old family structure.
One evening, Evelyn stood between the three cribs.
Noah was awake.
Lily had kicked off her blanket.
Grace slept with one fist beside her cheek.
Helena appeared at the open door.
“May I come in?”
Evelyn smiled.
“Yes.”
It was a small question.
But it showed how much had changed.
Then the attorney called about the Beverly Hills property.
The house contained the nursery Celeste had prepared for herself.
