Chapter 11 - The Husband Who Wanted Half

Two days after his removal, Adrian filed for divorce.

His petition claimed Claire had concealed marital assets by hiding her ownership of Northstar Capital.

He demanded half of Northstar’s interest in Halcyon.

He also accused Claire of using corporate power to punish him for ending the marriage.

News outlets repeated the allegations.

Some headlines portrayed Adrian as a founder betrayed by a secret billionaire wife.

Claire felt the familiar pressure to defend herself publicly.

Miriam advised silence until the records were ready.

Northstar had been created before the marriage using Claire’s inherited trust and intellectual property.

The prenuptial agreement identified both the trust and future companies formed from its assets as Claire’s separate property.

Adrian had signed that agreement.

He claimed he had not understood it.

Miriam produced an email from him to his former attorney.

Claire’s assets remain hers. I’m marrying the woman, not the portfolio.

The message was written three days before the wedding.

Adrian understood perfectly.

He had simply stopped respecting an agreement once the assets became valuable.

The court also examined the joint investment account Adrian tried to drain.

The $6.8 million came largely from Claire’s compensation and licensed patent income.

The emergency restriction remained in place.

Adrian’s attorney proposed a settlement.

Claire would keep Northstar.

Adrian would receive $40 million and immunity from any company civil claims.

In return, he would withdraw his public allegations and cooperate against Celeste.

Claire rejected it.

“He is offering to stop lying if I pay him,” she said.

Miriam nodded.

“Some people mistake the end of access for theft.”

Claire filed a counterclaim based on fraud, dissipation of marital assets, and forgery.

She did not ask for Adrian’s personal property.

She asked only for the return of what he had moved and a complete legal separation.

Adrian called her from an unknown number.

“We built everything together.”

“We built a company together.”

“Then why do you get eighty-three percent?”

“Because you agreed to the ownership structure before the company had value.”

“You hid behind Northstar.”

“I protected the company.”

“From me?”

Claire looked at the forged divorce settlement.

“Eventually.”

👉 Adrian’s demand for half of Northstar failed under the prenuptial agreement, but investigators soon discovered where he had hidden millions meant to fund his life with Celeste.
