By morning, the wedding footage had spread across every major news network.
The public saw Don Roberto’s punch.
They saw Elena’s bruise.
They heard Alejandro say he had been “teaching her a lesson.”
But the Varela attorneys launched their response immediately.
They claimed Elena had manipulated an unstable fiancé.
They described the wedding as a calculated corporate ambush.
They argued that the photographs could have come from accidents and that the recordings had been edited.
Alejandro was released on bond while the financial investigation continued.
Outside the courthouse, he spoke to reporters.
“I loved Elena. Her father wanted control of our family business, and she helped him manufacture a scandal.”
Elena watched from Claire’s office.

Doctors produced medical records documenting injuries over several months.
The ballroom microphone recording was authenticated.
So were the threatening messages.
Gabriel tried to flee the country.
He was arrested at the airport carrying cash, forged travel documents, and a drive containing confidential Marquez files.
Faced with decades in prison, Gabriel agreed to cooperate.
He admitted that Victoria had paid him to provide information and help acquire the Marquez loans.
He also confirmed the wedding merger was designed to conceal Varela Capital’s insolvency.
But the most damaging evidence came from Alejandro himself.
Investigators recovered deleted voice messages from his cloud account.
In one, Victoria warned him not to leave visible bruises before the ceremony.
In another, Alejandro laughed.
“Once the land is transferred, she can leave if she wants. She’ll leave with nothing.”
The public story changed overnight.
Elena was no longer treated as a frightened bride who had ruined a wedding.
She was recognized as the woman who had stopped a massive fraud while surviving the man committing it.
Yet Victoria still refused to cooperate.
She insisted Alejandro had acted alone.
