Chapter 16 - THIS WEDDING IS OVER

Elena reached the altar.
Alejandro took her hand too tightly.
The officiant began speaking, but Alejandro interrupted.
He welcomed the guests and announced that the marriage would unite not only two people, but two great business legacies.
A large screen displayed the proposed waterfront resort.
Doña Victoria opened the black case.
She entered a code into her laptop.
Outside the ballroom, investigators watched the financial accounts.
The first transfer request appeared.
Claire gave the signal.
Elena pulled her hand away.
Alejandro whispered through his smile, “Take it back.”
“No.”
His fingers closed around her wrist.
The guests nearest the altar saw it.
Elena lifted her veil.
Whispers spread as the bruise became visible.
Alejandro’s smile vanished.
“What are you doing?”
“Ending it.”
He leaned close enough that only she and the microphone could hear.
“You will destroy your father.”
The microphone carried every word through the ballroom.
Don Roberto stepped forward.
Alejandro released Elena and turned on him.
“She’s confused. I was teaching her a lesson.”
The punch came instantly.
Don Roberto struck him across the jaw.
Guests screamed.
Phones rose into the air.
Alejandro stumbled into the flowers.
“This wedding is over,” Don Roberto said.
Elena opened her clutch and displayed the photographs, messages, recordings, signed pledge, and transfer instructions.
“You should’ve read the clause.”
The main doors opened.
Officers entered with Claire and the financial-crimes detective.
“We have the evidence,” the detective announced.
Victoria stood.
“You have no authority to interrupt a private ceremony.”
Claire held up the court order.
“We have authority to freeze every account connected to the waterfront transaction and seize the ledger beside your chair.”
Alejandro looked at his mother.
Victoria dropped her champagne glass.
Don Roberto pulled Elena behind him.
“And so is your family,” he said.
Alejandro pointed at Elena.
“Ask her what she signed three months ago!”
Claire answered for her.
“She signed the document that gave us lawful access to your fraudulent transaction.”
An officer took Alejandro’s arm.
For the first time, his power could not make the room obey him.
Then another officer moved toward Victoria.
She smiled coldly.
“You cannot prove I knew what my son did.”
Elena raised the phone.
“Your signature is beside the words ‘psychological pressure approved.’”
May you like
Victoria’s face went white.
👉 Alejandro had finally lost control of Elena, but the Varelas still had one defense left: convince the world that the bruised bride had fabricated everything to steal their company.
