Chapter 7 - The Chase Inside
The video playback showed every second of their crime.
Vanessa reached the side of the large blue dumpster.
She lifted sleeping Lily up over the metal rim.
She dumped my innocent child onto dirty garbage bags.
Lily did not wake up or cry out once.
"Did you put the sleeping medication in milk?" Grandma asked.
Grandma's cold voice echoed clearly from phone speaker audio.
"Yes, she drank the whole cup," Vanessa replied coldly.
"She will be unconscious for at least six hours."
"By the time anyone checks, she will suffocate."
They pushed the heavy metal dumpster lids down hard.
Grandma reached up and grabbed the iron latch bar.
She swung the heavy iron bar over top lids.
She slid the metal locking pin straight into hole.
They turned around and walked calmly back toward house.
Grandma smoothed her light blue blouse on camera view.
"Now the estate trust fund passes to you," Grandma said.
"Without an heir, Marcus gets nothing from estate."
The video clip ended as they walked inside house.
Silence fell over the office like a heavy anvil.
Officer Davis's face turned into dark, lethal disgust.
He looked up from phone at Grandma and Vanessa.
Vanessa was hyperventilating on the hardwood floor hysterically.
Grandma stood frozen, her eyes wide with total shock.
Her aristocratic composure completely disintegrated in one second.
"That video is a deepfake forgery!" Grandma yelled loudly.
"My son fabricated that video using artificial intelligence software!"
Officer Davis pulled two sets of steel handcuffs out.
"Grandma Whitmore and Vanessa, you are under arrest."
"You are charged with attempted murder of a child."
"You are also charged with conspiracy and felony fraud."
Officer Davis grabbed Vanessa's wrists and slapped steel on.
The metal handcuffs ratcheted tight around her wrists.
Vanessa began screaming and thrashing against officer's grip.
"It was all Mother's idea!" Vanessa shrieked out loud.
"She forced me to put medicine in the milk!"
"She said we would lose the family mansion otherwise!"
Grandma turned on her daughter with pure venomous rage.
