The bank that issued the $1.8 million loan initially refused to release Verity from the guarantee.
Its attorneys argued that Daniel’s notary stamp made the document appear valid.
Claire disagreed.
“The bank ignored a conference record proving Evelyn was hundreds of miles away.”
A loan officer had also received expensive furniture from Margaret shortly after approving the guarantee.
The furniture was delivered to his vacation home.
Detective Morales charged him with bribery and conspiracy.
Under pressure, the bank canceled the guarantee and reimbursed Verity for legal costs.
