Chapter 10 - THE WALK THEY EXPECTED TO BREAK HER

Vivian visited the bridal suite thirty minutes before the ceremony.
Maya stood in the ruined dress.
For a moment, Vivian seemed startled that she had worn it.
Then her smile returned.
“There is still time to change.”
“Is there?”
Vivian held out the continuity declaration.
“Sign this, and the replacement gown is waiting.”
Maya looked at the document.
“No.”
“Two hundred people are seated downstairs.”
“I know.”
“They will remember you like this forever.”
“I hope they do.”
Vivian stepped closer.
“You think pride makes you strong. By the time you reach the altar, you’ll understand that no one enters this family on her own terms.”
Maya touched the phone hidden in her skirt.
“Then I suppose we should begin.”
Vivian left, convinced the humiliation had worked.
Daniel entered moments later.
When he saw the stain, grief crossed his face again.
Not because the gown was expensive.
Because Claire’s lace had been violated.
Maya showed him the repaired strip inside the bodice.
“She’s still with me.”
Daniel offered his arm.
The chapel doors opened.
The whispering spread exactly as Vivian expected.
Some guests looked shocked.
Some looked uncomfortable.
A few lowered their eyes.
Maya kept walking.
Ethan’s face moved from surprise to anger.
He had expected Vivian’s replacement gown.
He had expected Maya to surrender before the doors opened.
Instead, she brought their secret into the center of the room.
Vivian whispered, “Know your place.”
Maya did.
Her place was not beneath them.
Her place was beside her father, carrying evidence.
When she told Ethan to check his phone, Nora released the first file.
The guests began reading.
Vivian saw her own image entering the bridal suite.
Ethan saw the forged transfer authorization bearing Maya’s name.
Then the minister quietly stepped away from the altar.
“There will be no ceremony until this is resolved.”
Ethan grabbed Maya’s wrist.
“You planned this.”
Daniel moved between them.
“Take your hand off my daughter.”
May you like
Security guards entered from both sides.
👉 The wedding had stopped, but Ethan’s next words revealed that he had known about Claire’s ownership claim long before proposing to Maya.
