Chapter 18 - Maya’s Choice
Michael ordered Maya to hand over the drive.
Sarah stepped in front of her.
“No.”
Michael’s voice remained calm.
“You cannot protect her from what she now knows.”
“I can protect her from you.”
Maya opened the clutch.
The storage device from Daniel and Michael’s final drive rested beside each other.
She asked Daniel whether he remembered the activation phrase.
He shook his head.
Michael smiled.
“Then the ledger dies.”
Maya looked at Sarah.
“Dad’s recording.”
The old video from the Union Station locker contained repeated phrases.
Daniel had said:
“If Sarah sees this, Blackout survived.”
Maya believed that sentence might be the key.
She connected the drive to Sarah’s encrypted phone without activating the network.
A voice prompt sounded.

He whispered the phrase.

The drive opened.
No malware activated.
Folders appeared.
Names.
Payments.
Operation records.
One live file.
The live file showed current transfers scheduled for midnight.
Billions moving through foundations controlled by Vance and Sterling.
Michael planned to steal the money during the chaos and blame Catherine.
Catherine saw it too.
“You brought Daniel here to authenticate the theft.”
Michael did not deny it.
Adrian copied the ledger to an isolated device.
Sarah sent only the transaction blocks to international financial authorities.
Accounts froze one by one.
Elias received an alert.
His knees weakened.
Arthur closed his eyes.
