The medical-information broker obtained appointment dates, billing codes, and prescription records.
Vivian did not possess Claire’s complete charts.
She had enough to know when Claire visited fertility specialists.
She tracked failed treatments.
She tracked the month Claire stopped treatment.
Then she saw the obstetric appointment scheduled on the anniversary morning.
The payment to the broker came from Heritage Consulting.
Sabrina received the reports.
Messages between mother and daughter followed each update.
ANOTHER FAILED CYCLE.
GOOD. THE TRUST STAYS WHERE IT IS.
Later:
OB APPOINTMENT THURSDAY. PROBABLY ANOTHER ATTENTION PLOY.
MAKE SURE DANIEL SIGNS BEFORE SHE SPEAKS.
Claire read the messages in silence.
Daniel stood beside her hospital window.
“My mother watched us go through every loss.”
Claire looked at him.
“She celebrated them.”
He covered his face.
Vivian had hugged Claire after a miscarriage two years earlier.
She brought soup.
She sat beside Daniel and spoke about accepting God’s timing.
That same evening, she messaged Sabrina:
THE DANGER PASSED.
Daniel left the room before anger overtook him.
Mara remained with Claire.
“You can stop reading.”
“No.”
The records also showed Vivian attempted to obtain the result of Claire’s latest ultrasound.
The clinic refused.
That was why Vivian entered the dinner uncertain.
She believed Claire might be pregnant.
She also believed Claire might be exaggerating a medical concern to delay the sale.
The distinction did not protect her.
She deliberately struck Claire’s abdomen despite knowing pregnancy was possible.
Police upgraded the investigation.
The prosecutor requested the broker’s testimony.
The medical privacy violations expanded the financial case.
Sabrina attempted to destroy her phone.
Cloud backups preserved the messages.
When confronted, she blamed Vivian.
“Mother said the company would collapse if Claire had a child before the sale.”
Investigators asked whether she believed that justified surveillance.
Sabrina began crying.
“I believed Claire wanted to take everything from us.”
Claire later watched part of the interview.
She turned off the screen.
“They already had everything.”
Mara nodded.
“That is why accountability felt like theft to them.”
The hospital discharged Claire after four days under strict bed-rest instructions.
Daniel assumed they would return home together.
Claire asked Mara to arrange another residence.
Daniel looked devastated.
“I’m not leaving you.”
Claire answered quietly.
