Chapter 7 - THE BUYER BEHIND THE BUYER

Heritage Consulting owned twenty percent of a fund participating in the Crestland acquisition.

If the sale closed, Vivian would receive a personal payout from Bellamy House.

Then Heritage would own part of the purchased assets.

She would profit twice.

The first profit came from selling the company.

The second came from buying it back at a discounted valuation created by the hidden debt she helped cause.

Daniel stared at the ownership documents in the hospital conference room.

“Who approved Heritage as an investor?”

“Your mother’s counsel,” Mara Ellis, Claire’s attorney, replied.

Mara had arrived before dawn.

She specialized in corporate fraud and had advised Claire during the risk review.

“Sabrina signed the participation agreement,” Mara continued.

Daniel’s face hardened.

“My sister knew?”

“She is listed as Heritage’s managing director.”

Heritage had no public website or employees because it did not need them.

It was a family extraction vehicle.

Vivian approved false invoices.

Bellamy House transferred money to Heritage.

Heritage used that money to invest in the fund buying Bellamy House.

The acquisition would release old claims.

The records would become divided among new owners.

The audit triggered by Daniel’s children would arrive after the evidence was buried.

Daniel called an emergency board meeting from the hospital.

Vivian joined remotely with three attorneys.

She called the audit allegations revenge motivated by Claire.

Daniel displayed the ownership schedule.

“Did you know Heritage was inside the buyer?”

Vivian lifted her chin.

“It is a legitimate investment.”

“With money taken from Bellamy House.”

“Payments for services.”

“What services?”

“Brand preservation.”

“Name one employee.”

Vivian looked toward her counsel.

Daniel continued.

“You attacked my pregnant wife hours before asking me to sign a transaction that would protect your shell company.”

“You are allowing Claire to destroy your judgment.”

“No.”

His voice became quiet.

“I allowed you to replace my judgment for too long.”

He suspended the Crestland vote.

Then he invoked the continuity trust’s fraud provision.

Vivian’s temporary voting block was frozen pending independent review.

Sabrina lost access to financial systems.

Company counsel was removed.

Vivian stared at Daniel through the screen.

“You cannot run Bellamy House without me.”

“I’m about to find out.”

When the meeting ended, Mara handed Claire a new report.

Heritage’s transfers did not stop at luxury expenses.

One payment went to a private medical-information broker.

The broker had accessed Claire’s fertility records.

👉 Vivian had been monitoring Claire’s attempts to become pregnant long before the anniversary dinner.
