The company was called C&B Family Wellness.
It claimed to provide private caregiving, infant support, and senior assistance.
The Bennett trust had paid it $2.8 million over four years.
It had no employees.
No office.
No clients outside the Bennett family.
Chloe owned ninety percent.
Diane owned the rest through a holding company.
Invoices listed services for Thomas during his final illness.
Thomas had been receiving hospice care from a separate provider.
Other invoices claimed Chloe managed family properties.
She had spent most of those months traveling through Europe.
The trust also paid for Diane’s townhouse renovation, jewelry, private drivers, and luxury vacations.
Those expenses were disguised as beneficiary wellness costs.
Ryan sat across from the forensic accountant.
“How did no one catch this?”
“Your mother controlled the reports.”
“I reviewed annual summaries.”
“You reviewed summaries she prepared.”
Ryan closed his eyes.
He had never asked for source records.
Diane framed questions as accusations.
Ryan avoided them to preserve peace.
The missing amount eventually exceeded six million dollars.

Then accountants recovered a transfer scheduled for the morning after the planned guardianship.
