Celeste could not withdraw principal from the engagement trust.
She found another route.
The trust allowed approved expenses connected to wedding planning and shared philanthropic projects.
Celeste submitted invoices through a company called White Garden Events.
The company billed three million dollars for venue preparation, charity campaigns, and international guest security.
White Garden had no permanent staff.
Its address belonged to a Monroe-owned office.
The funds moved from the trust to White Garden, then into Monroe Holdings’ debt accounts.
Celeste had converted wedding expenses into emergency corporate cash.
One invoice charged $480,000 for fountain renovations.
The actual work cost $18,000.
Adrian looked at the fountain where Elena had been pushed.
Even the setting of her humiliation had been paid for through fraud.
Marcus found messages between Celeste and Charles.
ADRIAN DOESN’T REVIEW EVENT EXPENSES.
Charles replied:
KEEP THE TRUST LIQUID UNTIL THE CREDIT RENEWAL.
Another exchange occurred after Elena refused the community-housing consent.
Celeste wrote:
SHE READ THE ENTIRE DOCUMENT.
Charles answered:
THEN WE USE THE SIGNATURE FROM THE CHURCH FORM. SHE’LL NEVER KNOW.
Elena’s church-donation record had been obtained through a Monroe charitable partnership.
The forgery was deliberate.
Adrian forwarded everything to federal investigators.
Celeste requested a private meeting.
Against Marcus’s advice, Adrian agreed only if Elena consented.
“I don’t need to attend,” Elena said.
“You have the right.”
“I also have the right not to listen to her excuses.”
Adrian met Celeste inside a monitored conference room.
She wore no designer dress.
No engagement ring.
For the first time, she looked frightened.
“My father pressured me.”
“You pushed my mother.”
“I lost control.”
“You stole her identity.”
“I was trying to save my family.”
“You stole from our trust.”
“Monroe Holdings employs twelve thousand people.”
“So does Ruiz Global. That did not give you permission to forge my name.”
Celeste leaned toward him.
“If Monroe collapses, thousands lose jobs. You can still restore the credit line.”
“No.”
“We can restructure after the wedding.”
“There will be no wedding.”
Her eyes filled.
“Did you ever love me?”
“Yes.”
The answer surprised her.
Adrian continued.
“That is why I gave you access you did not earn.”
Celeste’s sadness hardened into anger.
“Your mother made sure you would always choose guilt over happiness.”
Adrian stood.
“My mother did not forge anything.”
