Three years after the gala, Lenora met Marcus Reed.
He was an architect hired to redesign several Harrison Foundation housing centers.
He knew her identity before their first meeting.
That made Lenora cautious.
Marcus never pretended not to know.
“You own the trust approving this project,” he said. “Ignoring that would be dishonest.”
He disagreed with her on design costs.

He held a simple band.

“You can take as long as you need.”
She laughed through tears.
“That may be the reason I can say yes.”
They signed a marital agreement with full disclosure.

When he saw the scale of Lenora’s inheritance, he became quiet.
“Does this change anything?” she asked.
“It changes the complexity of planning,” he said. “It does not change who I am marrying.”
Lenora believed him not because the sentence sounded perfect.
