Chapter 6 - The Dinner Worth Two Hundred Million

Nathan requested two hundred million dollars from Moretti Holdings.

The official presentation described Vale Crest as profitable, expanding and temporarily undervalued.

The real financial reports showed the company was weeks from default.

Dante arrived with his attorney, Julian Russo, and three security officers.

He wore a black suit and the expression of a man accustomed to rooms changing when he entered.

Elena watched from the service station.

He looked like the boy in the locket grown into something harder.

The same dark eyes.

The same scar near his eyebrow.

She remembered touching that scar as a child.

The memory made her grip the counter.

Dante’s public reputation frightened her.

Moretti Holdings owned shipping terminals, restaurants and construction companies.

Authorities also believed the Moretti family controlled illegal gambling, protection networks and smuggling routes.

Dante had never been convicted.

He had inherited power created through fear.

Elena still did not know what kind of brother stood across the room.

Julian opened the investment presentation.

Nathan spoke confidently.

Victoria entertained the VIP guests and treated employees as invisible.

Elena delivered wine.

Dante looked at her once.

His gaze lingered briefly, as though something about her face felt familiar.

Then Nathan redirected his attention.

During the second course, Elena slipped an envelope beneath Julian’s leather folder.

Inside were copies of the employee-fund transfers and a note.

THE NUMBERS YOU RECEIVED ARE FALSE. CHECK SILVER FOUNTAIN CONSULTING BEFORE SIGNING.

Julian noticed.

He read one page beneath the table.

Then he whispered to Dante.

Nathan saw the exchange.

Victoria followed his gaze toward Elena.

She understood immediately.

She rose from the table.

“Elena.”

The room quieted.

Victoria announced that the waitress had stolen jewelry and confidential documents.

Elena stood beside the table holding a tray.

“That is false.”

Victoria slapped the tray aside.

Glasses shattered across the marble floor.

The restaurant manager moved forward.

Nathan stopped him with a look.

Victoria demanded Elena apologize and empty her pockets.

Elena refused.

“I gave Mr. Moretti’s attorney financial records belonging to the people you stole from.”

Gasps moved through the room.

Nathan rose.

Victoria’s face twisted.

She seized Elena’s shoulder.

“You’re nothing but a servant.”

Then she ripped the uniform.

The locket fell.

May you like

And twenty-two years of silence ended beneath the chandeliers.

👉 Victoria’s cruelty revealed Elena’s identity, but Dante still had to prove he was truly her brother before she would trust him with Rosa’s ledger.
