Chapter 5 - The Second Attachment
The hospital clerk turned back to her computer screen.
She clicked on a secondary attachment icon inside file.
A new digital document opened up on blue screen.
Her eyes scanned the newly opened text file fast.
Her hand flew up to cover her mouth in shock.
Michael noticed the shift in her facial expression instantly.
He realized what specific file she was looking at.
Without warning, Michael violently lunged toward the counter space.
He leaped over the waist-high glass security barrier fast.
His arms reached out frantically to grab the monitor.
Security officers moved in with lightning-fast combat reflexes.
Two guards tackled Michael mid-air, slamming him down.
His navy polo shirt tore against the metal counter.
He thrashed wildly on the hard tile floor surface.
"Don't let her read it!" Michael screamed hysterically.
"Do not look at that second document, you bitch!"
David turned around and sprinted out front sliding doors.
The old man ran toward his car in parking.
The male paramedic chased David out into the street.
Inside the lobby, guards pinned Michael's arms back hard.
Cold steel handcuffs clicked loudly around his thick wrists.
Michael groaned in rage, his face pressed on floor.
"You have no right to touch me!" Michael roared.
"I own that company! I own that medical contract!"
I stared at my husband in absolute, total disbelief.
His mask of civilized control was completely shattered now.
He looked like a wild, cornered, desperate animal floor.
The female clerk stood behind counter, hands shaking wildly.
She looked silently at the unseen document on screen.
Her face drained of all its healthy natural color.
She looked up from monitor, staring straight at me.
Her eyes filled with profound pity and terrifying horror.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice trembling.
"What does the second attachment say about my baby?"
The clerk swallowed hard, her throat moving with difficulty.
She picked up her desk phone with trembling fingers.
"Connect me to Chief of Surgery immediately," clerk.
"We have an active criminal emergency in ER lobby."
"And call the FBI field office right now."
My heart stopped beating for a fraction of second.
The document wasn't just a fake power attorney.
