Chapter 15 - The Final Blueprint

Inside the cardboard box lay a silver encrypted flash drive.

Beside the flash drive rested a single photograph document.

I picked up the photo with careful, trembling fingers.

The image showed an old medical laboratory facility building.

A building located deep inside the remote mountain woods.

Standing in front of the building was a woman.

A woman wearing an expensive cream silk trench coat.

She held a newborn baby in her arms smiling.

My blood ran completely ice cold in a single second.

The woman in the photo was my biological mother.

The mother I believed died of cancer twenty years.

She wasn't dead at all.

She was alive and standing outside David's secret lab.

I flipped the photograph over to read back side.

A message was written in my mother's handwriting text:

"Hello, my sweet daughter Emily."

"I faked my death twenty years ago to protect."

"David and Michael were working for me all along."

"I created the pharmaceutical contract to test your strength."

"You passed the test, my brave darling girl."

"Now it is time for you to take over."

"I am waiting for you at the mountain clinic."

A floorboard creaked softly behind me on porch.

I turned my head slowly around in dark shadow.

Standing near my front door entrance in darkness,

Was a tall woman wearing a cream silk coat.

She raised her hand and smiled at me warmly.

"Welcome to the family business, Emily," she whispered.
