Dylan faced charges for financial fraud, conspiracy, obstruction, witness intimidation, identity theft, and participation in my wrongful conviction.
The crash itself could not be prosecuted as homicide after fifteen years under the applicable laws and evidence limitations.
But the cover-up became part of the motive.
Walter testified.
The dash-camera footage played.
The courtroom watched eighteen-year-old Caleb beg Dylan to slow down.
Dylan’s hands tightened on the defense table.
For years, he framed himself as the true victim of the crash.
The video showed the truth.
He made a reckless choice.
Then allowed another man to carry the blame.
Nora testified about the miscarriage.
She admitted her own crimes before describing his threats.
Dylan’s attorney called her unreliable.
She answered:
“I lied to protect him. I am telling the truth because protecting him destroyed everyone.”
Emma did not testify in person.
Her earlier statement was admitted under controlled conditions.
The recovered laptop showed Dylan’s planning.
The shell accounts showed motive.
The call showed intent.
Then I took the stand.
His attorney asked whether I hated Dylan.
“No.”
“After everything?”
“Hate would still make my life revolve around him.”
“Do you want him punished?”
“I want the truth recorded somewhere his family cannot rewrite.”
Dylan looked at me.
For the first time, he appeared ashamed.
