Chapter 17 - The Cabin

Daniel Rowe rented a mountain cabin in Colorado.
Federal agents searched it.
They found cash, fake documents, and a laptop.
The hard drive contained a folder labeled Caleb.
Inside were copies of the crash footage.
News articles.
My social-media posts.
Photographs of me taken without my knowledge.
Dylan had watched me for years.
He kept a list of moments when he believed I was judging him.
My college graduation.
My engagement to another man years after Caleb.
The day I joined the foundation.
The day I was promoted above him.
Every success became evidence that I had moved forward while he remained trapped.
He had written:
She gets the life Caleb lost. I get the blame.
But no one had publicly blamed him.
The guilt came from inside.
He turned it outward because accepting responsibility would destroy the identity my parents built for him.
The laptop also contained planning notes for Nora’s fall.
Not the fall itself.
The opportunity.
He wrote that if Nora lost the pregnancy, my recent conflict with her could be used.
He monitored her medical appointments.
He knew the pregnancy was in danger.
The anniversary dinner gave him an audience.
The notes mentioned my mother.
Mom says Anna will confess if isolated.
I never confessed.
So they expanded the pressure.
They told relatives I had admitted jealousy.
They leaked my heart diagnosis to the prosecutor.
They deleted my evidence.
They turned my grief over infertility into motive.
The case against them was no longer only financial.
It became a coordinated wrongful prosecution.
My parents were arrested.
My mother asked officers to let her change clothes before photographers arrived.

My father asked whether Dylan was safe.
Neither asked about me.
