Chapter 8 - THE MONEY SENT UNDER HER NAME
The first transfer occurred four months earlier.
Whitlock Strategic Systems paid Sentinel North $3.8 million for “military advisory services.”
A second payment covered public-relations consulting.
A third purchased research rights that Whitlock already owned.
Each invoice carried approval from Eleanor Whitlock.
Celeste had signed them.
The total exceeded fourteen million dollars.
Company accountants never questioned the approvals because the name belonged to the controlling trust protector.
They assumed the colonel had reviewed everything from overseas.
The email address looked official.
Ellie had never seen it.
Celeste used the account to communicate with federal contracting officers, veteran organizations, and investors.
She wrote in the first person.

As a colonel…
My experience commanding soldiers…
Some emails included photographs of Ellie.
Others included photographs of Celeste wearing the pendant, filmed from angles that avoided a clear view of her face.
Investigators called it synthetic identity construction.
Celeste had combined Ellie’s legal name, military biography, forged signature, and her own physical presence.
Graham authorized the company technology team to create the account.
He claimed it was necessary because Ellie’s real military email could not be used for corporate work.
The explanation did not excuse impersonation.
A federal investigator placed printed messages before him.
“Did Colonel Whitlock write these?”
“No.”
“Did you know Ms. Monroe did?”
“I knew she handled public communications.”
“She described herself as a serving Army colonel.”
“That was branding language.”
“It was a false representation used to obtain federal business.”
Graham requested his attorney.
Celeste tried a different defense.
She claimed Graham told her Ellie had privately approved everything.
Then investigators showed her the forged signature files stored on her laptop.
The folder was labeled:
ELLIE MASTER.
It contained signature samples, copies of Ellie’s passport, military biography, photographs, trust documents, and medical records.
Celeste stopped speaking.
The medical records disturbed Ellie most.
They included counseling notes from a confidential family-support appointment after her previous deployment.
Nothing in them suggested instability.
Celeste had highlighted phrases about insomnia and reintegration stress.
Those sentences appeared inside Graham’s conservatorship petition.
Audrey had been right.
They planned to use ordinary post-deployment stress as proof Ellie could not control her own property.
Then investigators opened one more file.
It contained a draft press release.
COLONEL ELEANOR WHITLOCK STEPS DOWN FOLLOWING PRIVATE HEALTH CRISIS.
