Chapter 13 - The Guests Chosen as Witnesses

Marco had invited exactly the people he needed.

Whitmore board members.

Family court donors.

Local journalists.

Leo’s teachers.

Andrea’s relatives.

He believed the crowd would make Andrea too ashamed to fight back.

Andrea quietly turned the same crowd into witnesses.

Rebecca arranged to attend as a family friend.

Detective Daniel waited outside with a warrant request based on the safe footage.

Rosa remained nearby with the hidden server records.

The independent DNA laboratory prepared a certified representative to verify Andrea’s results remotely.

The trust’s corporate custodian froze all transfers until the parentage dispute was resolved.

Marco did not know.

At noon, the white estate garden filled with music and sunlight.

Blue balloons floated above the fountain.

Children ran across the grass.

Leo wore the pale blue shirt Andrea had chosen.

The silver picture frame remained hidden behind the gift table.

Marco greeted guests in a gray suit.

Valerie arrived wearing red lace.

She did not enter through the service gate as an employee.

Marco met her at the main entrance and kissed her cheek in front of photographers.

Andrea watched from the terrace.

Rebecca stood beside her.

“You can still stop this.”

“No.”

“He’s going to hurt you publicly.”

“He has already hurt my son privately.”

Andrea looked toward Leo.

“He needs to see that lies do not become truth just because they’re spoken into a microphone.”

The cake ceremony began at three.

Everyone sang.

Leo blew out five candles.

Marco placed an arm around Andrea for the photographs.

His grip tightened painfully at her waist.

“Last chance,” he whispered.

Andrea smiled for the camera.

“No.”

Marco stepped onto the small stage.

He thanked the guests.

He spoke about family, honesty and protecting children.

Then his voice became solemn.

“There is a truth Andrea has hidden for five years.”

Valerie moved to his side.

Andrea heard guests whispering.

Marco claimed Valerie had carried Leo under a private surrogacy agreement.

He accused Andrea of using the Whitmore name to erase Valerie from the birth record.

Then he held up the forged DNA report.

Valerie opened her arms.

“Come to your real mommy.”

Leo looked at Andrea.

Marco nodded toward Valerie.

It was the signal they had rehearsed.

Leo took one frightened step.

Then he turned away from Valerie.

“She’s not my mom.”

👉 Leo broke Marco’s carefully rehearsed script, and the picture frame he lifted next contained the evidence that would turn the entire party against them.
