Chapter 13 - The Boardroom Without Nathaniel

Isabella wore a high-necked blue dress to the emergency board meeting.
She did not hide every bruise.
She covered what made her feel comfortable.
Nothing more.
Nathaniel attended through a secure video connection from jail.
His attorneys sat beside him.
Several board members looked uncomfortable when Isabella entered with Edward.
One director whispered, “This is becoming a family spectacle.”
Isabella heard him.
“No,” she said. “It became a corporate matter when company funds financed identity theft and coercion.”
The room fell silent.
Whitmore’s attorney presented the financing structure.
Cross Dominion’s survival depended on Whitmore-backed loans.
Under the emergency provisions, those loans would remain available only if the board removed Nathaniel, froze Savannah’s companies and appointed independent investigators.
Nathaniel appeared on the screen.
“You are holding the company hostage.”
Isabella faced him.
“You used it to hold me hostage first.”
He looked toward the directors.
“My wife concealed that her father was our investor. She manipulated our marriage to gain control.”
Edward stood.
Isabella touched his arm.
She would answer herself.
“I helped create the first restoration strategy. I introduced the financing proposal. I did not demand a title or public credit.”
“You deceived me.”
“I kept my family identity private.”
“You watched me struggle.”
“I watched my father finance the plan that saved you.”
Nathaniel had no response.
The auditors presented the Aurelia payments.
The directors saw Savannah’s villa.
Nathaniel’s hidden accounts.
The forged documents.
Then the study video played.
Nathaniel raising the belt.
Savannah holding the papers.
Isabella being forced to sign.
One director left the room and became physically sick.
The vote was unanimous.
Nathaniel was removed as chief executive and chairman.
His signing authority was terminated.
Every director who had approved the Aurelia payments without review resigned or was suspended.
An independent restructuring officer took control.
Edward offered to convert part of Whitmore’s debt into employee-owned shares.
Isabella added one condition.
“No member of either family may hold unilateral control again.”
Edward looked at her.
“That includes me.”
“Yes.”
He nodded.
Nathaniel laughed bitterly through the screen.
“You’re giving away our company.”
Isabella looked at him.
“It was never yours alone.”
Security disconnected the call.
The boardroom became quiet.
Then Ryan Cole, the company’s senior accountant, placed another file before Isabella.
“I found payments to a private investigator.”
The investigator had followed Edward for months.
But his real assignment had not been identifying Whitmore Global.

It had been finding Isabella’s mother’s original trust documents.
👉 Nathaniel had not only planned to steal Isabella’s inheritance—he had been searching for a way to erase the protection her dying mother wrote for her.
