Chapter 1 - The Wrong Daughter

“Tell your mechanic father what you’re worth.”

Nathaniel Cross shouted the words while two police officers forced his arms behind his back.

His navy suit was torn at the shoulder. Rage twisted his face as he struggled against the handcuffs.

Across the Bel Air study, Isabella sat collapsed on the carpet.

Her beige dress was ripped and dirty. Purple bruises spread across her shoulder and legs. A black leather belt lay beside the desk, inches from the postnuptial agreement Nathaniel had forced her to sign.

Savannah knelt nearby in a champagne-sequin gown, screaming at the officers.

“This is a private family matter!”

“No,” one officer replied. “It’s an assault scene.”

Isabella reached for the phone that had fallen beside the papers.

Before her fingers touched it, an older man with silver hair rushed through the doorway.

He wore a perfectly tailored black suit.

But Isabella did not look at the suit.

She looked at his hands.

The same scarred hands that had once repaired engines beside her when she was a child.

“Dad…”

Edward Whitmore dropped to his knees and wrapped his coat around her.

Isabella clutched the signed agreement.

“He made me sign.”

Behind them, Nathaniel laughed bitterly.

“So the mechanic finally came.”

Edward slowly looked up.

The laughter died.

Nathaniel’s phone vibrated on the floor.

A red alert filled the screen.

CORPORATE ACCOUNTS FROZEN.

Savannah saw it first.

Her face turned white.

Edward held Isabella closer.

“You touched the wrong daughter.”

A lawyer entered with private security and placed a black folder on the desk.

“Whitmore Global has frozen everything.”

Nathaniel stopped fighting.

He stared at Edward.

Then at the folder.

The name WHITMORE GLOBAL was embossed across the front.

Isabella rose with her father’s help.

She wiped her tears and looked directly at her husband.

“Open the file.”

The lawyer released the clasp.

The first security photograph slid across the desk.

It showed Nathaniel holding the belt.

The second showed Savannah locking the study door.

And the third proved the postnup was only the final step in a plan that had begun long before Isabella was struck.

👉 Nathaniel believed he had married a powerless mechanic’s daughter—but the first page in that folder revealed whose money had secretly built Cross Dominion.
