Chapter 11 - Open the File

Edward knelt beside Isabella while officers restrained Nathaniel.

His hands shook when he touched her hair.

Not from fear.

From rage he was forcing himself to control.

Nathaniel looked at Edward’s black suit and the security team behind him.

Recognition arrived slowly.

“You’re Edward Whitmore.”

Edward did not answer.

Isabella held the stained postnup.

“He made me sign.”

“You never have to sign anything for him again.”

Nathaniel began shouting.

“She agreed during the notary call!”

The Whitmore attorney placed the black folder on the desk.

“The call is evidence of coercion.”

“She said yes.”

“We have the preceding assault on video.”

Savannah stared toward the bookshelves.

The small security camera blinked.

Her face emptied.

The attorney opened the folder.

The first pages showed the assault.

The next contained bank records.

Aurelia transfers.

Forged approvals.

False medical reports.

Nathaniel looked toward Isabella.

“You planned this.”

She struggled to stand.

“I prepared to survive you.”

The attorney turned to the final section.

The Whitmore Family Trust contained an anti-coercion provision written by Isabella’s mother.

If any spouse attempted to obtain authority through violence, intimidation or fraudulent consent, all associated companies could immediately freeze connected accounts and suspend investment agreements.

Nathaniel laughed bitterly.

“You cannot freeze Cross Dominion.”

Edward’s attorney held up a financing chart.

“Whitmore Global controls the debt securing sixty-three percent of its operating assets.”

Nathaniel stared.

“That’s impossible.”

“The Bel Air mansion is also held by an Isabella Whitmore trust.”

Savannah looked around the room.

“This house is hers?”

“It has always been hers.”

Nathaniel’s phone continued vibrating.

Corporate accounts were frozen.

The board had received emergency notices.

Lenders had suspended new credit.

Whitmore security sealed company servers.

Nathaniel stopped struggling.

Edward helped Isabella stand.

Savannah crawled backward, purple ink staining the bottom of her gown.

Edward looked at Nathaniel.

“My daughter gave you love while believing you deserved the freedom not to know her wealth.”

Nathaniel’s face twisted.

“She lied to me.”

“She protected herself from exactly the man you became.”

Police led Nathaniel toward the door.

He turned back.

“You’ll destroy thousands of employees to punish me?”

Isabella answered before Edward could.

“No. We’re protecting them from you.”

The lawyer slid one more photograph across the desk.

It showed Savannah entering the mansion’s document vault three months earlier.

She carried Isabella’s passport.

👉 Nathaniel’s assault had exposed the fraud, but Savannah’s trip to the vault proved the mistress had helped build the scheme from its first forged signature.
