Chapter 9 - The Emergency Delivery

The ambulance sped through traffic with sirens blaring.

Inside, monitors beeped with increasing, rapid speed.

Emma groaned in pain, clutching her stomach tight.

"Ethan... the contractions are coming every two minutes!"

Paramedic Sarah checked the fetal monitor screen fast.

Her face turned grave as she looked at me.

"The abdominal trauma from the kick triggered labor!"

"She is entering full emergency labor right now!"

Tears filled my eyes as I squeezed Emma's hand.

"Stay strong, sweetheart, we are almost there!"

The ambulance slammed to a stop at ER entrance.

Trauma doctors rushed out with a rolling bed.

They wheeled Emma straight into the delivery surgical suite.

Doctor Sarah Jenkins led the emergency medical team.

"Priority C-section required immediately!" Doctor Jenkins shouted.

"The placenta is showing signs of partial detachment!"

They pushed me into a clean sterile gown.

I sat beside Emma's head inside the operating room.

The bright overhead lights shone down brightly on us.

Monitors beeped loudly in the cold room air.

Emma held my hand with all her remaining strength.

"Ethan... promise me our baby will be safe..."

"I promise you, my love, I promise you."

Doctor Jenkins worked with fast, precise surgical skill.

Minutes felt like long, agonizing, terrifying hours today.

Suddenly, a loud, clear, healthy baby cry rang out.

The sound echoed through the sterile surgical room.

"It's a healthy baby girl!" Doctor Jenkins announced.

Tears of pure, overwhelming joy flooded my eyes.

They wrapped the baby in a soft pink blanket.

They set our daughter gently onto Emma's chest.

Emma wept tears of relief, kissing the baby's forehead.

"She's beautiful, Ethan..." Emma whispered softly.

"She's perfect, sweetheart," I replied, kissing Emma.

The doctor confirmed the placenta was repaired safely.

Both mother and baby were completely out of danger.

My family was safe from my mother's cruelty.

The long nightmare was coming to an official end.
