Chapter 11 - THE CONDO PURCHASE

The condominium overlooked the river.

Ryan and Maya had chosen the flooring, cabinets, and bedroom furniture weeks before Claire received the debt letter.

The purchase contract listed Northbridge Commercial Recovery as the buyer.

Once Claire’s transfer cleared, Northbridge would purchase the condo.

Ownership would later move to Maya.

Ryan’s name would remain hidden until after the divorce.

The plan explained everything.

The invented debt.

The urgent deadline.

Maya’s overnight bag.

The message saying Claire would be gone in ten days.

Ryan had expected Claire to finance the home where he intended to live with his mistress.

Federal investigators froze the condominium transaction.

They also seized Northbridge’s records.

The company’s attorney agreed to cooperate.

He admitted Maya asked him to establish the shell corporation, claiming it would collect legitimate construction debts.

Ryan later provided the forged loan documents.

Maya had sent him Claire’s copied signature.

When detectives arrested Maya for conspiracy, fraud, and attempted theft, she blamed Ryan.

“He said the house was already his,” she insisted. “He said Claire was taking money that belonged to the marriage.”

The detective placed the photograph of Maya wearing Claire’s robe on the table.

“You threw a child’s belongings into the yard.”

Maya looked away.

“He told me Claire was unstable.”

“You helped create the evidence used to call her unstable.”

Maya asked for an attorney.

Ryan was arrested hours later.

He walked out of the mansion in handcuffs while reporters gathered beyond the gate.

Claire did not watch.

She was taking Noah to preschool.

He had begun asking why Daddy no longer lived with them.

Claire chose her words carefully.

“Daddy made choices that were not safe or honest.”

“Does Daddy still love me?”

Claire knelt in front of him.

“Adults can love someone and still make harmful choices. It is never your job to fix those choices.”

Noah wrapped his arms around her.

Claire held him until the school bell rang.

That afternoon, Ryan was released on bond.

He was prohibited from contacting Claire or entering the mansion.

He immediately told reporters that his wife had manipulated the legal system to steal his company.

He described the affair as a lie.

He claimed Maya was only a consultant.

Then Maya’s attorney announced that she was considering cooperation.

Ryan’s public statement changed.

He called Maya an obsessed employee who had forged documents without his knowledge.

Maya saw the interview from her attorney’s office.

Her face became cold.

“He wants to blame me for everything?” she said.

Then she opened a private cloud account Ryan did not know she still possessed.

👉 Maya had saved years of Ryan’s voice messages—and one recording captured him explaining exactly why he married Claire.
