Chapter 9 - THE RECORDING DANIEL MADE FOR HIMSELF
The final folder opened with Daniel’s private password.
Claire knew it because he reused the date his company first became profitable.
Inside was an audio note Daniel had recorded in the car after the ambulance left their house.
He spoke as though dictating instructions.
“Claire refused the statement. Twins arrived before the compliance interview. Vanessa still has the coat. If the drive is not recovered, position Claire as medically unstable and emotionally vindictive.”
Daniel paused.
Then he continued.
“Divorce immediately. Remove her from insurance after transfer. North Crest will keep the devices outside Whitmore review.”
There was no panic in his voice.
No fear for his premature children.

Claire had experienced pregnancy-related confusion.

“All his children.”

A warehouse employee admitted that Vanessa ordered staff to remove manufacturer warnings.
The company had sold at least thirty-two refurbished units as new.
Most had not failed.

Daniel claimed he knew nothing about the warehouse practices.

Daniel’s lenders froze his accounts.

He had moved the money into a separate company under his sole control.
She confronted him through their attorneys.
For the first time, the two people united against Claire began turning on each other.
Vanessa offered to cooperate with investigators.
Her condition was immunity from charges involving the equipment.
Prosecutors refused.
Then she revealed Daniel had forged more than Claire’s hospital signature.
