Chapter 6 - THE MAN BEHIND VANESSA’S MONEY

V.C. Senior was Victor Cole.
Vanessa’s father.
He owned Cole Biomedical, one of Whitmore Global’s largest competitors.
Victor had spent years trying to acquire Adrian’s failing software company.
Adrian’s product contained an unfinished hospital-data platform Victor wanted.
The technology was worth little without investment.
Victor offered ten million dollars and a senior position on one condition.
Adrian had to separate himself from the Whitmore family publicly.
Then Vanessa became pregnant.
Or appeared to.
Six months before Claire conceived, Vanessa announced privately that she was expecting Adrian’s child.
Celeste celebrated.
Adrian prepared to leave Claire.
The pregnancy was false.
Vanessa had never been pregnant.
She had told Adrian she miscarried after twelve weeks.
Medical records later showed she had not received pregnancy care.
Victor still wanted a grandchild carrying the Cole name.
He also wanted Adrian legally bound to Vanessa through family.
When Claire became pregnant, Vanessa proposed a solution.
Present the child as the result of Vanessa and Adrian’s embryo.
Use Claire as the supposed gestational carrier.
Transfer Lily to Vanessa.
Then Adrian could marry her and complete the Cole Biomedical deal.
Adrian agreed.
Celeste embraced the plan because Victor promised to save Mercer Medical Software and fund her lifestyle.
The forged documents served everyone.
Adrian received money.
Vanessa received Lily and public motherhood.
Victor received a granddaughter and leverage over Adrian.
Celeste received status and security.
Claire was reduced to a body they believed had no powerful family left.
Victor denied knowledge of coercion.
He claimed Vanessa told him Claire volunteered as a surrogate.
Then investigators found his messages.
Does Whitmore know?
Adrian replied:
He disowned her.
Victor asked:
Will Claire contest?
Vanessa answered:
She has no resources and will be medically unstable after delivery.
Victor’s attorney argued the language was insensitive but not criminal.
A second message was worse.
If she refuses, use the postpartum petition before the Whitmores see a birth announcement.
Victor had funded the false clinic.
His company paid Dr. Renner.
He arranged the Connecticut house and international flight.
Federal investigators joined the case because the planned removal crossed state and national lines.
At the hospital, Lily was placed under a temporary protective hold while parentage and custody were reviewed.
Claire remained her primary medical parent.
Adrian could visit only under supervision.
Vanessa and Celeste were barred from the unit.
Harrison did not use his influence to demand Lily be released privately.
He insisted every procedure be documented.
“Power without records is how they thought they could do this,” he told Claire.
The hospital performed independent DNA testing.
Claire was Lily’s biological mother.
Adrian was the biological father.
Vanessa had no biological relationship.
The result destroyed the embryo story.
Adrian changed his explanation.
He claimed Claire agreed to surrender Lily because she felt unprepared for motherhood.
Naomi produced prenatal messages.
Claire discussing names.
Buying a crib.
Recording Lily’s heartbeat.
Writing letters to her unborn daughter.
Adrian claimed Claire changed her mind.
Then Detective Torres recovered a deleted voice message from his phone.
Celeste said:
“Once the baby is gone, keep Claire sedated until she signs the divorce and confidentiality papers.”
Adrian replied:
“How long?”
“Long enough for Vanessa to cross the border.”
The conspiracy no longer concerned only fraud.
They had planned to incapacitate Claire while taking Lily out of the country.
The hospital toxicology report found a sedative in Claire’s water bottle.
It had not been prescribed.

Security footage showed Celeste entering the room before delivery and placing the bottle beside Claire’s bed.
👉 Adrian stole Lily from Claire’s arms—but Celeste had prepared to make sure the new mother stayed unconscious long enough for the baby to disappear.
