A video appeared online two days later.
It showed Claire inside the Bennett kitchen, shouting at Mark.
Her voice said:
If you don’t transfer the house to me, I’ll make everyone believe you’re sick.
The clip spread quickly.
Commenters accused Claire of fabricating Mark’s illness to steal marital property.
Vanessa’s attorney claimed Northgate had been misled by both spouses.
For several hours, the public story turned against Claire.
Then Eleanor noticed something.
“The clock.”
In the video, the kitchen clock showed 9:15.
The window behind Claire showed bright afternoon sunlight.
Their kitchen faced east.
At 9:15 in the morning, the light would appear from the opposite direction.
Claire’s mouth movements also failed to match several words.
A forensic expert confirmed the clip had been digitally altered using footage from a family argument recorded months earlier.
The original video showed Claire confronting Mark about Eleanor’s missing medication.
Mark had secretly recorded it.
Vanessa’s team replaced portions of the audio.
Investigators traced the uploaded file to Northgate’s media consultant.
He admitted Vanessa ordered him to create it.
In exchange for immunity, he provided access to her private server.
The files included plans to leave the country.
Vanessa had purchased two airline tickets.
One for herself.
One for Mark.
The departure date was Monday—the day the loan funds were scheduled for release.
Claire understood why Mark kept repeating the deadline.
They intended to take the first loan draw, trigger the foreclosure, and disappear before the county announced the development project.
Vanessa’s server also contained a document titled:
POST-CLOSING CONTINGENCY—CLAIRE.
It proposed using the forged instability video to challenge Claire if she disputed the loan.
A second document targeted Eleanor.
It recommended placing her under emergency guardianship.
