He received life in prison.
Dr. Hale was convicted of attempted murder, falsifying medical records, criminal conspiracy, and abuse of his medical authority.
His license was permanently revoked.
He received thirty-two years.
Administrator Paul Merrick was convicted of conspiracy, evidence destruction, and accepting criminal payments.
Anthony Greco received twenty-seven years for conspiracy, obstruction, and providing protected information used in the attempted murder.

At sentencing, Cara spoke only once.

He accepted it.
Before officers led him away, he asked to speak briefly with Cara.

“You saved my life,” he said.
Cara looked at the handcuffs.
“So you could answer for it.”
A faint smile crossed his face.
“That too.”
“Was it worth it?”
“Ask me when I’ve finished paying what I owe.”
Sofia hugged her father.
She did not promise to wait unchanged.
She promised only that she would visit when she chose.
Dominic accepted that boundary.
The Russo legal businesses entered public oversight.
Hundreds of employees retained their jobs.
Worker ownership expanded.
The criminal operations disappeared under federal seizures and prosecutions.
Money from confiscated properties funded victim compensation.
The Mercer Trauma and Patient Safety Center—named for no criminal family—was created through hospital funds and court-approved restitution, not Dominic’s personal glory.
Cara returned to the emergency department.
Some patients recognized her from the news.
Most did not.
She preferred it that way.
Then, during a quiet night shift, a frightened nursing student asked how Cara had known Dominic was alive.
