Chapter 6 - THE STORY HE WANTED

Naomi threw herself between Derek and Madison.
“Call an ambulance!” she shouted.
Martin stood frozen.
Derek grabbed his shoulder.
“We were never here.”
Naomi stared at him.
“There are access logs.”
“I control the system.”
Derek pulled Martin into the hallway.
Before leaving, he looked back at Madison.
“You fell while trespassing.”
Then he closed the door.
Naomi pressed gauze against Madison’s wound.
“Stay with me.”
Madison’s face had turned gray.
“My purse.”
“It’s here.”
“The drive?”
Naomi checked the lining.
The original flash drive remained inside.
Derek had not found the hidden pocket.
Security officers arrived.
One recognized Derek leaving the floor but assumed he had been responding to an emergency.
The records-floor cameras were offline.
Derek had disabled them remotely minutes before entering.
An ambulance transported Madison to the emergency department.
Because the wound was close to her pelvis and required specialized examination, she was transferred to the affiliated women’s clinic where Naomi still practiced.
Naomi cleaned and stitched the laceration.
She documented every bruise.
Madison repeated what happened while Nurse Nina wrote down her exact words.
Police arrived.
Madison gave a statement.
An officer contacted Derek.
He claimed Madison broke into Room 417, attacked Martin, and injured herself while stealing protected patient material.
Martin supported his account.
“He’s going to make me look guilty,” Madison whispered.
Naomi removed her gloves.
“Not this time.”
“The room cameras were off.”
“The hallway cameras were not.”
Derek had disabled the internal records-floor system.
He had not disabled cameras covering the clinic lobby, parking garage, and connecting hallway.
The footage showed him following Madison and Naomi into the building.
It showed Martin entering moments later.
It showed both men leaving while Naomi called for help.
More importantly, it showed Derek carrying a remote access device used to shut down the record-floor cameras.
Samantha arrived with a temporary protective-order application.
“We can keep him away from you.”
Madison looked at the stitches along her abdomen.
“He won’t stop because of paper.”
“No,” Samantha said. “But every time he breaks an order, he gives us more evidence.”
They moved Madison to a private examination room.
Nina called hospital security and instructed reception not to reveal her location.
Forty minutes later, Derek entered the clinic.
He told the receptionist he was Madison’s emergency contact.
When she refused to admit him, he shoved past her.
The hallway camera began recording.
Madison heard his voice before the examination-room door opened.
“Where is she?”
Her body began shaking.
Naomi reached for the internal phone.
“Police are still downstairs.”
The door flew open.
Derek stepped inside.
He carried the proxy agreement in one hand.
“Choose how you pay.”

👉 Derek believed fear would force Madison to repeat his version—but the clinic had already recorded his decision to hunt an injured woman into a locked medical room.
