Daniel’s probate attorney withdrew from the case after seeing the evidence.
A second attorney attempted to preserve his claim.
He argued that the revised will was invalid because Claire had been influenced by Margaret and Dr. Grant.
Samantha presented the capacity evaluation.
Claire had answered detailed questions about her assets, family, medical condition, and decisions.
She had met with the witnesses alone.
Neither Margaret nor Dr. Grant attended the signing.
The probate judge accepted the revised will for preliminary administration.
Margaret became executor.
The Pierce Health Foundation received temporary voting control of Claire’s shares.
Daniel received nothing while the criminal investigation remained active.
Then Samantha revealed an additional clause.
Claire had created a litigation trust funded with five million dollars.
Its sole purpose was to investigate any suspicious circumstances surrounding her death and protect witnesses who came forward.
Daniel had believed killing Claire would remove the only person willing to fight him.

Margaret used the trust to provide Rosa with legal protection.

A financial controller named Jacob Lin revealed that Daniel had demanded access to company funds days after Claire’s death.
“He said the old restrictions no longer mattered.”
The controller refused.
Daniel threatened to fire him once probate confirmed control.
A laboratory director disclosed that Alder Ridge supplied uncertified diagnostic components.
Claire had ordered an independent safety review.
Daniel canceled it.
The company fraud reached beyond theft.
Defective devices had produced unreliable patient results.
Margaret authorized immediate notification to hospitals and regulators.
The decision cost Pierce Medical millions.
She did not hesitate.
“My daughter wanted patients protected.”
Daniel’s public-relations team accused Margaret of destroying Claire’s legacy.
Margaret held a press conference.
She stood beside Samantha and several physicians.
“Claire’s legacy is not a stock price,” she said. “It is every patient who trusted her company to tell the truth.”
Reporters asked about Daniel.
Margaret did not discuss evidence under investigation.
She said only:
“My daughter left instructions. I am following them.”
That evening, Margaret returned to Claire’s empty house under police escort.
Most personal belongings had been boxed by Daniel.
Claire’s photographs were missing from the bedroom.
Elise’s clothes already occupied part of the closet.
Margaret found a wedding planner’s binder beneath the bed.
Daniel and Elise had selected a ceremony date.
It was six weeks after Claire’s expected death.
They had planned seating arrangements before she died.
Inside the binder was a handwritten note from Daniel:
