Chapter 11 - THE FALSE MEDICAL FILE
Dominic entered the hospital through the private surgery entrance.
He wore a medical mask and carried an identification badge belonging to a board member.
A nurse recognized him and contacted security.
By the time federal agents arrived, he had reached the administrative records floor.
They found him inside an office with a flash drive connected to a computer.
Dominic claimed he was retrieving his wife’s records as her legal spouse.
The computer logs told a different story.
He had uploaded three psychiatric evaluations.
All three described Clara as paranoid, delusional, and prone to self-harm.
None of the doctors listed had examined her.
One signature belonged to a physician who had died two years earlier.
Dominic intended to use the false reports in family court.
If Clara left him, he planned to seek control of their child and temporary guardianship over Clara’s trust.
The assault had not destroyed that plan.
It had accelerated it.
Federal agents arrested him for fraud, evidence tampering, and obstruction.
As they led him through the hospital lobby, Dominic saw Clara waiting with Victoria.
He tried to smile.
“Maddie, tell them this is a misunderstanding.”
Clara stared at him.
“You created medical records saying I was dangerous.”
“I was protecting our daughter.”
“From me?”
“From your mother.”
Victoria did not react.
Dominic continued speaking because silence no longer protected him.
“She has wanted to control you since your father died.”
Clara stepped closer.
“My father died because your family was poisoning the river.”
“That was my father’s business.”
“And Chief Pike?”
Dominic’s expression shifted.
Clara saw it.
He knew more than the documents proved.
Before agents could move him away, Clara said, “Pike was arrested at the airfield.”
Dominic stopped walking.
“He had the original evidence boxes.”
Fear crossed his face.
It lasted only a second.
But it was enough.
Chief Pike now possessed the bargaining power Dominic believed he had eliminated years ago.
At the federal detention center, Pike requested an attorney and offered complete cooperation.
His condition was protection for his family.
The prosecutor agreed to hear his statement.
Pike began with six words.
