Valerie entered the courtroom using a cane.
Adrian watched from the defense table.
Robert and Elaine sat behind separate attorneys.
No one looked like a family.
The prosecutor began with the marriage.
Valerie described the early years.

The way her parents treated his confidence as leadership and her caution as weakness.

“What did Adrian do?”

Adrian’s attorney approached.

“Your marriage was unhappy.”

“You were angry about your husband’s relationship with Camille West.”
“I learned about the relationship after the assault.”
The attorney displayed Valerie’s revoked authorizations.
“You erased dozens of signatures while heavily medicated.”
“I revoked authority during a capacity evaluation.”
“You destroyed your parents’ mortgage.”
“I declined to guarantee a refinancing that had not closed.”
“You removed your husband from the company.”
“The board suspended him after evidence of fraud.”
The attorney’s voice sharpened.
“You wanted revenge.”
Valerie looked toward Adrian.
“I wanted distance between the people who hurt me and the things they could still access.”
The prosecutor played Rosa’s audio.
Robert’s voice filled the courtroom.
Good. We need her alive until the transfer clears.
Elaine lowered her head.
Adrian stared at the table.
Valerie continued.
“They did not mistake my silence for consent once. They built an entire system around that mistake.”
Robert accepted a plea agreement during the fourth week of trial.
He admitted financial conspiracy and delaying emergency care.
Elaine followed after Camille testified.
Both agreed to surrender their shares and assets in exchange for reduced sentencing recommendations.
Adrian refused.
He claimed the family had framed him to protect the Mercer name.
Then prosecutors played the secure recording from the night of the assault.
His voice said:
YOU WILL NOT THREATEN MY COMPANY.
The jury heard the impact.
