Chapter 18 - The Letter Beneath the Trust

Elias gave Victoria a second envelope after the arrests.
Edward had instructed him not to deliver it until the protective clause was activated.
Victoria opened it inside her father’s old study.
My brave girl,
If you are reading this, then my fear was justified, and I am sorry I could not spare you the pain. Serena attempted to change the beneficiary on one of my accounts. When I confronted her, she claimed it was a clerical error. I did not believe her.
I began watching the people around you more carefully. Damian’s interest in the company appeared before his interest in you. I wanted to warn you, but love spoken against too early can sound like control. I chose instead to give you the tools to discover the truth yourself.
The necklace belonged to your mother, but the courage connected to it has always belonged to you. Technology can preserve evidence. Lawyers can preserve property. Only you can preserve the life you deserve.
Victoria pressed the letter against her chest.
For months, she had feared her father would be disappointed that she had trusted Damian.
Instead, his final words contained no blame.
Only love.
Only protection.
She restored Elena as manager of Vale House.
Mara returned to Vale Holdings as chief security officer.
Elias remained beside Victoria during every legal proceeding.
Damian pleaded guilty to conspiracy, attempted financial fraud, coercion and unlawful restraint.
Serena pleaded guilty after learning Damian planned to blame the entire scheme on her.
Their alliance ended the way it began.
With each trying to use the other.
Both received prison sentences.
Dr. Pierce lost his medical license.
The corrupt employees and board members were removed permanently.
For the first time since Edward’s death, Victoria entered Vale House without feeling watched.
But one room still frightened her.
May you like
The unfinished nursery.
👉 Victoria had won the company and exposed the truth, yet healing required her to walk back into the room where her daughter had almost become a weapon.
