Meredith was convicted of child endangerment, financial exploitation of a minor, coercion, fraud, forgery, and conspiracy to interfere with custody.
She received a lengthy prison sentence.
The judge emphasized that the driveway incident was not isolated.
It was the final act in a sustained campaign to profit from and control a child.
Two aunts received probation and community service after cooperating.
A third, who had helped manage payments and delete evidence, received a short prison sentence.
The clerical employee who leaked court information pleaded guilty separately.

Her contact with Lily remained supervised and controlled entirely by the child’s therapist and family court.
At sentencing, Claire addressed Lily through a letter the therapist could choose whether to share.

It also agreed to independent oversight.
Outside the courthouse, reporters surrounded Nathan.
One asked whether he had won.
Nathan looked toward the car where Lily waited with Jonah and Mrs. Alvarez.
“My daughter is not a custody prize.”
He walked past the cameras.
At home, Lily asked what happened.
“Grandma has to stay somewhere she cannot hurt you,” Nathan explained.
“And Mommy?”
“Mommy has to work very hard before visits can change.”
“Is she bad?”
Nathan sat beside her.
“She made dangerous choices. People are more complicated than one word.”
Lily thought about that.
“Can I be mad and miss her?”
“Yes.”
“Both?”
“Both.”
Lily leaned against him.
That was the beginning of healing.
