Vale-Porter Systems completed a new communications platform designed to survive extreme heat, structural collapse, and signal interference.
The first unit was dedicated to Marcus Vale.
Claire asked Evelyn to speak at the memorial.
The event took place outside the rebuilt manufacturing plant.
Workers stood with Marcus’s family.
His name appeared on the testing laboratory.
Evelyn told the story of his final minutes.
“He did not hand me company secrets,” she said.
“He handed me a warning meant to save the next team.”
Claire cried quietly.
The new system had already passed conditions far beyond those that destroyed the old relays.
Military units began receiving it worldwide.
No one could return Marcus to his family.
But his warning now lived inside every test.
Evelyn placed a copy of the Silver Star citation inside the memorial archive.
Her recognition and Marcus’s truth belonged together.
After the ceremony, Claire said, “For years, I wanted the Porters destroyed.”
“So did I.”
“What changed?”
Evelyn looked at the workers leaving the plant.
“Destruction would have made the innocent pay again.”
Justice had punished individuals.
Reform protected others.
