Chapter 15 - The Doctor Who Kept Her Dependent
The consultant was Dr. Peter Sloan.
He had evaluated Maya shortly after the bus accident.
At the time, he told the family that Maya might never regain enough strength to live independently.
Other therapists were more hopeful.
Dr. Sloan dismissed them as unrealistic.
Victor continued sending him private payments through Bennett Mobility Solutions.
In return, Sloan wrote reports supporting Victor’s control over Maya’s care.
He claimed she lacked judgment.

A new specialist reviewed Maya’s medical history.
“The delays cost you time,” she said. “But they did not eliminate your potential.”
Maya gripped the hospital blanket.
“What potential?”
“With consistent rehabilitation and properly fitted equipment, you may be able to walk short distances without braces. I cannot promise that. But you were never given a fair chance.”
Maya cried.
Not because she expected a miracle.

Dr. Sloan was arrested for medical fraud, falsifying records, and conspiracy.
He surrendered emails showing Victor’s motive.
