Charles Voss was more than an Apex executive.
He was the university’s largest private donor.
His name appeared on the science building.
His foundation funded scholarships, laboratories, and the new medical research wing.
The university president attended holidays at his home.
Board members invested in Apex subsidiaries.
When federal agents searched Ward’s second phone, they found encrypted messages from Voss.

THE FATHER WILL BURN HIMSELF DOWN.
Voss had approved the plan to frame Ryan.
He had also approved payments to Ward, Lang, Price, Travis, and Dr. Kent.
Apex’s board claimed Voss acted alone.
Financial records proved otherwise.
The company expected Phase Nine to secure a defense contract worth nearly three billion dollars.
Negative safety data would destroy the deal.
The university had received secret performance bonuses tied to approval.
Maya’s discovery threatened careers, fortunes, and criminal exposure.
Voss held a press conference before agents could arrest him.
He called Maya a confused student who stole proprietary files.
He described Ward as a rogue security director.
He claimed the Phase Nine subjects had signed complete consent forms.
Then he released a photograph of Maya entering the science building after hours.
“She was participating in industrial theft,” he said.
Frank watched from Maya’s hospital room.
The public attack was deliberate.
If Voss could make Maya look dishonest, jurors might question the evidence.
Maya picked up her tablet.
LET ME ANSWER.
“You just had surgery.”
HE SAID MY NAME.
Frank looked at her bruised face.
“You don’t owe anyone proof while you’re healing.”
Maya typed:
JORDAN’S MOM HAD TO PROVE HER SON WASN’T AN ADDICT.
RYAN HAS TO PROVE HE ISN’T VIOLENT.
I WON’T LET THEM DO IT AGAIN.
With her surgeon’s permission, Maya recorded a statement.
She could not speak clearly, so she used a text-to-voice device.
“My name is Maya Collins. I did not steal trade secrets. I preserved evidence of unauthorized human testing, falsified consent, and a death that was hidden.”
Photographs of her injuries were not shown.
She refused to let the public focus only on what had been done to her.
Instead, she displayed altered reports beside original data.
She ended with one sentence.
“Science does not become national security just because powerful people need the truth classified.”
The video spread across the country.
Other Aegis participants began contacting investigators.
One carried medical records proving permanent nerve damage.
Another had been paid to remain silent.
A third revealed that Voss personally attended a Phase Nine session.
