Chapter 6 - The Camera That Recorded The Betrayal

The video played.
Nobody moved.
Nobody breathed.
The footage showed Ethan’s office hallway.
Six months earlier.
I watched myself enter the building carrying the first ultrasound picture.
Then I watched myself leave hours later.
Alone.
But the important moment came afterward.
A person entered Ethan’s office.
Someone wearing a familiar jacket.
Someone carrying a folder.
Victoria.
Ethan looked at her.
“You?”
Victoria closed her eyes.
“I was trying to fix it.”
“Fix what?”
She didn’t answer.
And that silence was worse than a confession.
I felt anger rising.
“You helped them.”
Victoria looked at me.
“No.”
“Then explain.”
She looked toward Ethan.
“I was trying to stop your father.”
The room froze.
Ethan’s expression changed.
“My father?”
I had never heard that name mentioned.
Because Ethan’s father had died years earlier.
Victoria opened her folder.
“There’s more.”
She pulled out financial records.
Payments from a private account.
A company connected to Ethan’s family.
The money trail showed someone had paid to remove information about Rose.
Ethan stared at the documents.
“This isn’t possible.”
But it was.
Because the numbers were there.
The names were there.
And one signature sat at the bottom.
A signature Ethan recognized.
